About the weave
Chiffon is a sheer, lightly crinkled fabric woven from tightly twisted yarn — the twist is what gives it that faint grain and its characteristic float. Nothing about it is structural: a chiffon saree has no body to hold a pleat rigid, which is exactly why it moves the way it does.
Ours arrive as base cloth and are embroidered in-house with thread florals, so the placement is ours rather than a mill's. At roughly 280g it is the lightest saree we sell — under half a Mysore silk — and the one that packs smallest.
It sits in a specific slot: evening functions, receptions, cocktail events, and the long summer weddings where a heavy silk becomes a punishment by the third hour. It is also the weave younger customers reach for first, which is why we keep the palette modern — blush pink, lavender, mint, peach.

How to recognise a real one
Ask to see any of these on any piece in either store. It is a normal request, not an awkward one.

Caring for your Chiffon saree
- Hand-wash cold with a mild detergent, or dry-clean. Never wring — press the water out between towels.
- Dry flat in shade; hanging a wet chiffon stretches it out of shape permanently.
- Iron on the lowest setting through a cotton cloth — chiffon scorches faster than any other fabric here.
- Store on a padded hanger or loosely folded; sharp folds leave marks the fabric will not release.

How much is an embroidered chiffon saree?
Chiffon starts at ₹3,200, which makes it the most accessible saree in our range. Price moves with how much of the body the embroidery covers.
Is chiffon suitable for a reception?
It is one of the weaves we most often recommend for one. Chiffon carries embroidery well under evening light, it moves when you do, and at around 280g it stays comfortable through a long function — which a heavy zari saree does not.
Can chiffon sarees be washed at home?
Yes, carefully: cold water, mild detergent, no wringing, dried flat in shade. Hanging a wet chiffon will stretch it permanently. If the embroidery is dense, dry-cleaning is the safer choice.
Which saree is best for summer in Tamil Nadu?
For a function, chiffon — it is the lightest and most breathable formal drape we carry. For everyday summer wear, handwoven cotton is the better answer, and it costs considerably less.
