We have two stores. The original is on Main Bazaar Road, Gobichettipalayam, Erode District, Tamil Nadu 638452. The second is at Periyanaickenpalayam, Coimbatore District, Tamil Nadu 641020. Both are on the Visit page with directions.

Gobichettipalayam is open Monday to Saturday, 9:30 AM to 8:30 PM, and Sunday from 10 AM to 1 PM. Coimbatore is open Monday to Saturday, 10 AM to 8:30 PM, and closed on Sunday.

The ground floor holds everyday sarees and raw cloth material, with the bespoke saree hall at the rear. The upper floors carry the men's, women's and children's sections. In Coimbatore all sections run across two floors, with the bespoke saree lounge on the first.

No — walk in any working hour. If you are coming for a bridal selection and want the bespoke hall and a staff member to yourself, booking a slot through the Visit page means the sarees are laid out before you arrive.

No. Everything is sold across the counter at the two stores. A saree is a decision made by hand — weight, fall and the way zari catches light do not survive a photograph — so this site is here to help you arrive knowing what you want, not to check out.

Handwoven cotton starts at ₹1,400, embroidered chiffon at ₹3,200, Mysore silk at ₹5,500, Kanchipuram silk at ₹8,500 and Banarasi brocade at ₹12,000. Raw cloth for tailoring starts at ₹600 a metre. Final price depends on zari content, border width and pattern density, and is quoted in store.

Yes. Alongside the sarees we carry men's kurtas and celebration wear, women's lehengas and festive wear, and children's ethnic sets. The upper floors in Gobichettipalayam are given over to those sections.

In Tamil Nadu the muhurtham saree is almost always a Kanchipuram — pure mulberry silk, real zari, temple border, korvai pallu. Most brides then wear a Banarasi brocade for the reception. Both weaves are stocked at the two stores, and bespoke Kanchipuram orders need six to eight weeks.

For a Kanchipuram, check the join between body and border: a genuine korvai weave shows a fine hand-interlocked zigzag, and the saree carries real weight — 700 to 800g for a bridal piece — because the zari is silver wire wound on silk. For a Banarasi, the brocade must be woven in, so float threads show on the reverse. Ask our staff to show you the join and the zari on any piece; that is a normal request, not an awkward one.

Handwoven cotton for everyday and summer — breathable, washable, and from ₹1,400. If you want pure silk you can wear to work, Mysore silk at around 400g is roughly half the weight of a bridal Kanjivaram and drapes without effort.

Embroidered chiffon, at about 280g. It is the usual choice for receptions, evening functions and long summer weddings where a heavy zari saree becomes uncomfortable.

Yes — that is what the bespoke hall is for. Lead time follows the loom: seven to ten days for Mysore silk, twenty to thirty days for Kanchipuram, and twenty-five to forty-five for a Banarasi with a dense jaal. Start the conversation at either store or by phone.

Roll it, or fold it loosely, inside a cotton or muslin cloth — never plastic, which traps moisture against the zari. Refold along a different line every few months so a crease never sets, and keep naphthalene from touching the zari directly, as it tarnishes.

Zari silks — Kanchipuram and Banarasi — should be dry-cleaned only, and the cleaner should be told there is real zari in the cloth. Mysore silk tolerates a careful cold hand-wash with mild silk detergent, dried in shade. Cotton washes normally. Chiffon can be hand-washed cold but must be dried flat, never hung wet.

The house was established in Gobichettipalayam in 1925 and has been run by the same family across three generations. The name people use for it, Javuli Kadal, means sea of cloth.
